2017 Top 10 Games of the Year

Hello all! I’m a little late with this column because I was doing some research for this column by getting an impression on Shadow of War. It didn’t quite make the list as one of my top 10 games of 2017. If you want comment below, tweet or Facebook with your opinion opinion on my list. Or maybe you want to let me know what your to 10 list is. Anyway here are my 10 best games in order from 10-1 this year. In parenthesis you’ll see what platform I played the game on. I will give a small blurb on what I liked about the game. 2017 10. Super Mario Odyssey(Switch)- The Switch came out with two heavy hitters this year. Mario was the game that resonated with me. It is the best Mario Game since Mario 64 and my 4th all time favorite Mario game. The mechanics are superb. The surprises are fun. It made me go back to being a kid again playing Super Mario World. 9. Assassins Creed: Origins(XboxOne) Most people said they needed to take a year off of Assassins Creed last year. I disagree I think

8 Reasons Why College Bowl Games Have Bad Attendence

Today is going to be a late article and a short article. I’ve saw a lot of people on social media complaining about the size of college bowl crowds. There are a few reasons as to why the college bowl crowds are small for the games we’ve saw so far. 1) There are a ton of college bowl games now. A few even take place in the same city. This takes up hotel space, activity space(because there is always more than just the bowl game going on.), and kills the logistics of the city.  2) College bowl games don’t really attract local fans. Why? The teams aren’t from there. You may get a few transplants but never a ton of fans from local cities. It’s not a big draw, just a big traffic jam.  3) Small college crowds won’t travel and typically are in smaller cities with lower median incomes. As a graduate of Marshall University I’ve been to 0 bowl games because they typically don’t play anywhere near Huntington, WV. This year was New Mexico and I can tell you the appeal isn’t there.

Top 10 YouTube Shows of the Year

I’m trying to mix it up again. I’ve did Twitch channels so it wouldn’t be fair to do a top 10 of YouTube channels. You would end up getting some of the same people and content. While the people are the same the content on the particular YouTube shows I decided to pick, most of the content is entirely different. I recommend all these shows. I would also suggest checking out other shows on their channels as most are varied in what they do. The show will be listed first and in ( this will be the channel name you can search for more of their content). 10) Tech Tuesday’s (iJustine)- Highlights the best tech news of the week. 9) Weekly Questions (What’s Good Games)- They answer Weekly fan Questions. 8) Kinda Funny Morning Show (Kinda Funny)- They discuss the daily news in pop culture. 7) So Not Sober Games (Whiskey & Waffles)- Every time they die in a video game they drink. 6) Cooking With Greggy (Kinda Funny Games)- Greg gives away his recipes. 5) Colin’s Last Stan’s: Sidequest (

Top 10 Movies of the Year

Welcome to the Top 10 movies of the year! Well that’s based on what I’ve saw. I was going to originally call this theatrical releases but then I released straight to TV/Netflix/Amazon/other streaming services. I also realized I didn’t get in a ton of movie theaters or what a ton of movies. I had 14 considerations for the 10 spots on this list after adding them up. I should probably watch more movies next year. Much like my Star Wars rankings this is just a top 10 list with no spoilers. 2017 Movie of the Year 10 Bright 9 Atomic Blonde 8 Wonder Woman 7 Dunkirk 6 Pysche The Movie 5 Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 4 The Disaster Artist 3 Logan 2 Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi 1 Spider-Man: Homecoming Now you have my top 10 movies of the year. Star Wars Movie Rankings

Last night as part of an annual family tradition I took my mother to the movie theater for Christmas. Movies, tv shows, and games have bonded us my whole life. When I was 4 she introduced me to the space opera known as Star Wars. I really enjoyed it as a child. As an adult I still feel the same way about the now Disney owned property. For those worrying about potential spoilers, there are none. This is just a ranking of each live action Star Wars movie. Again no spoilers. 9) Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 8) Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 7) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 6) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 5) Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones 4) Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 3) Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 2) Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens 1) Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi There are my rankings! The PUBG Phenomenon.

Tetris(1984). Minecraft(2011). Grand Theft Auto V(2013). Wii Sports(2006). Super Mario Bros(1985). Mario Kart Wii(2008). Wii Sports Resort(2009). Pokemon Red/Green/Blue(1996). New Super Marios Bros[3DS](2006). New Super Mario Bros Wii(2009). The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim(2011). Diablo III(2012). Duck Hunt(1984). Wii Play(2006). Grand Theft Auto San Andreas(2004). What do all these games have in common? They clearly aren't the same type of video games. . They all aren't from the same publishers or even on the same platforms. Some are exclsive to one console or platform. However these are the only titles that have sold more than Player Unknown's Battlegrounds(PUBG). I put the year of release beside the game so you know when they came out. The interesting thing about PUBG is that it came out March 23rd of this year and is already the 16th best selling game of all time in one year. Let's put that in perspective. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games

Top 10 Podcasts of the Year

I'm someone who enjoys consuming multiple types of media at once. Whether I'm watching a TV show, playing a video game, watching a movie, or reading I normally always have a podcast going on in the background. I listen to way to many of them. Someitmes I have to binge listen to catch up much like people binge watching a series on Netflix. So which podcasts are the best? Probably not the one's I listen to. However today's list is the top 10 podcasts of the year. I had another sports article that I was going to write here but I moved it to next week to try and separate some of my year ending lists a little so it's not top 10 this and top 10 that for next week from Tuesday-Saturday. 10) My Brother My Brother & Me- This was the first comedy podcast I ever sampled. For a long time it was my favorite non sports, non gaming podcast. I even saw their life show CandleNights in 2014 in their hometown of Huntington, WV. Love the McElroy brother's. 9) The Comedy But

NFL Picks For December 23-December 25

Hello. A lot of people loved my college football picks column so I'm going to give my NFL picks each weekend until the Super Bowl. You are going to see me pick the games two different ways. The first is who I think will win the game. The 2nd is by the gambling line listed on ESPN.com as of noon on 12/21/17. The betting line will shift up and down but I'm going with whatever is set on the website right at noon with no refreshed. When you see something with a team name and then a - beside it that means they need to win above that amount to cover on the game. So for the first example BAL -13.5 means they need to win by 14 points to win by the spot. http://www.espn.com/nfl/scoreboard Saturday December 23 Baltimore Ravens VS Indianapolis Colts (Bal -13.5) 4:30pm Winner of the game: Baltimore Ravens Cover the spot: Baltimore Ravens Green Bay Packers VS Minnesota Vikings (MIN -9.0) 8:30pm Winner of the game: Minnesota Vikings Cover the spot: Minnesota Vikings Sunday Dece

Chris Paul's Shocking Streak Ended and A Few Insightful Rockets Stats.

Chris Paul missed 14 games due to injury this season. Normally Chris is pretty healthy. However that isn't the historic start he has had this season. He won the first 15 games he played in this year. Granted the first game he barely played but up until 12/20/17 when the Lakers beat him he was 15-0. The teams he beat are listed in order below. Win 1- @ Golden State Warriors 10/17/17 Win 2- @ Phoenix Suns 11/16/17 Win 3- @ Memphis Grizzlies 11/18/17 Win 4- VS Denver Nuggets 11/22/17 Win 5- VS New York Knicks 11/25/17 Win 6- VS Brooklyn Nets 11/27/17 Win 7- VS Indiana Pacers 11/29/17, Mew Yyy Win 8- @ Los Angeles Lakers 12/3/17 Win 9- @ Utah Jazz 12/7/17 Win 10- @ Portland Trailblazers 12/9/17 Win 11- VS New Orleans Pelicans  12/11/17 Win 12- VS Charlotte Hornets 12/13/17 Win 13- VS San Antonio Spurs 12/15/17 Win 14- VS Milwaukee Bucks 12/16/17 Win 15- VS Utah Jazz 12/18/17 Then he ran into the Lakers which looked really good against them. The Lakers almost blew a bi

Top 10 TV Series of the Year

Sorry I'm late. This is the first article this week I didn't prewrite and schedule to a degree. I apologize for that. I'm doing enough content today to carry us through December 25th though. That said it seems like people responded well to my Eminem album ranking I'm thankful for that. I love ranking things and doing lists so expect me to do these a couple of times a week because this is a true passion of mine. Getting to today's business since most TV shows are wrapping up or are on mid season hiatus I thought it would be time to rank my top 10 TV series of the year. The TV series had to start airing during this year to be eligible  which means Sherlock S4 which I doubled checked the air date of Jan 1 barely made the cut. I do want to add a precursor that I don't have Hulu so I didn't watch The Handmaiden's Tale which is a great book that I read for a course in college at Marshall University. That seems to be getting rave reviews so when I do finally

Ranking Eminem's 8 studio albums

To try and diversify content a little bit and not just shoehorn myself in sports I decided to look to pop culture today. Eminem, an artist I liked a ton during middle school and high school released his 8th official studio album Friday Revival. I listened to it. Then I decided to compare it by listening to all the albums in reverse order. For those who don't know that is Revival, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Recovery, Relapse, Encore, The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP, & The Slim Shady LP. Any song I know by heart after hearing the beginning and end to see how it fits in album placement I skipped for time's sake. It was fun to have a day with just some headphones on and thinking about life while listening to music. I haven't did this in a good 7-8 years when I was deep into listening to hip hop, R&B, & Pop music. I've diversified and allowed a little rock to seep in there. What's the criteria for this? Unlike my boxing rankings there isn't muc

The NFL Rules and How to Interpret This Weekend's Controversial Calls.

On Sunday we had two interesting calls that drastically changed the outcomes of games. In the first game, a 4:15 game on the east coast you had the Pittsburgh Steelers seemingly regain the lead from the New England Patriots. However after further review the player was overturned because TE Jesse James bobbled the ball in the end zone. Check video below. The first one that showed up on google. Tony Romo was pretty quick to point this out. But catches like this that get review happen every week. It is something that happens. ESPN's Max Kellerman said on First Take that the referees had a fundamental misunderstanding of their own rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18GWrZLOpAA Then in the Oakland Raiders VS Dallas Cowboys we had an interesting call late in the game on a first down. The referees couldn't determine that Dallas got the first down. So they pulled out a folded index card. Normally instead of index cards we have two polls with linked chains that measure to see if

Who Are the Top Pound For Pound (P4P) Fighters in Boxing?

This is something often discussed by fans. Who is actually the best if weight class didn't matter? The first thing you have to look at is dominance in the ring. You can tell the skill level of a fighter by how the approach the fight. Do they actually make changes after the 3rd round or stick to a gamplan that they have worked on in the gym for the last 3 months? Other than dominance what do you look at? Record comes to mind. You want the fighter to have a good record. What else is important? Who you fight. If a fighter is 40-0 and never really fought another great fighter then is he really a top fighter? Or is he being propped up by his promoter. The last thing I look for is activity. I'm giving the top 10 fighters on my list and each should have fought in the last 14 months. If a fighter has recently announced their retirement or impending retirement they won't be featured on the list. That includes Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather, Roman Chocolatito Gonzalez, & Andre Wa

Clash of the Champions Predictions

Welcome to day 2 of my blog. Yesterday we touched on a passion of mine with college football. Today we are checking in on some more predictions for the WWE and their Smackdown branded pay per view Clash of Champions. Going back to WCW and my early childhood the Clash of the Champions events were some of the most prestigious events in the wrestling/sports entertainment industry. We will start with the pre show match and work our way down the card. Pre Show Tie Breaker: Zack Ryder Vs Mojo Rawley Winner: Mojo Rawley Reason: WWE has never believed in Zack. Even when he became white hot with the broski of the week on his self shot youtube show they didn't believe. They gave him a midcard title and immediately jobbed him out and killed his credibility. Enter Mojo Rawley. They rarely let Mojo get beaten or pinned in NXT or Smackdown. They even let him win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal with help from New England Patriot Rob Gronkowski. He's the younger talent. He is on
